The GITweekly Tumblog.

Just a quick note to say don’t forget our GITweekly Tumblr Tumblog thingee.

By popping over to the Tumblog you may find some lighter or more opinionated ramblings. Like we’ve said…

Just as I reached for the scissors to cut up my FlyBuys card, Coles backs out of their involvement in a pro-cancer-cigarette campaign.

Nice to see one of the big boys actually use their brains.

Thanks for the very interesting article Daily Telegraph.

So there I was, channel surfing on the radio. I happened upon the end of a spruikfest regarding the Liberal/Coalition’s and Labor’s take on the future of Australia’s broadband network.

PERTH, AUSTRALIA - JULY 30: Prime Minister Julia Gillard discusses the National Broadband Network with Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband and Communications, from the warehouse of Network Service Provider, VisionStream on July 30, 2010 in Perth, Australia. Labor released network maps today illustrating that every house, school and business accross the country will have access to high speed broadband under the plan. (Photo by Paul Kane/Getty Images)

We’ve all heard about Labor’s NBN Co. The fast but expensive network being built by the government. The Liberal party have their own ideas about the network - namely being a slower but cheaper version using “multiple modes of delivery” and the need for the private sector to contribute.

Then I was stunned by the Liberal parties’ own - Andrew Robb - The Federal minister for Goldstein and the Shadow Minister for Finance and Debt reduction. He came out guns a’blazin by telling the Labor parties’ Chris Bowen that he was effectively talking out of his sphincter.

Andrew Robb then went on to say, at 7 minutes and 55 seconds into the interview (as replayed on the 3AW website), that under the Labor network an Electrician in his truck would not be able to send his invoices while mobile. He’d have to go home late at night and use the NBN Co connection.

What?

Mr Robb, I wasn’t aware that Telstra, 3, Vodafone and Optus would be ceasing their mobile 3G internet connections?

Sounds like a Labor led tech revolution would lead us back into the dark ages!

And don’t you get smug you Labor supporters. Take a good hard look at Senator Conroy’s big internet filter. That’s more frightening than the rest of it all.

In the world of plasma, black is king. We don’t mean Martin Luther King, we mean the regal kind, although some would argue the aforementioned are one and the same….

Like quite a few people I’m sure, I got a little intrigued by the silver haired, silver tongue, Sir Richard Branson when he came out bashing the banks. He introduced…

So here’s the thing. An iPhone with 1 Terabyte of storage is sitting in my hot little hands. Seriously. Except the hands being little. They’re more of an average man’s size. Honest….

This is probably nothing but old news to the harder core of tech heads out there, but for us newer experimenters the thought of jailbreaking an iPhone is nothing short of frightening.
